Let me start with my usual reminder that I am a Christian Conservative Libertarian Farmer Capitalist Preacher. I forgot to add…PATRIOT!
Someday I will write a post on how and why I would bring most (not all) of our soldiers home from abroad and where I would deploy them in the USA. I will explain why (and where) I would close a minimum of 50% of our foreign bases. I will discuss what a boon that would be to our economy and why it will make us stronger. Someday I will do that, but not this day.
Today I’m mad as H E Double Hockey Stick! I just saw the photographs of our slain Ambassador to Libya being dragged through the streets of Benghazi. I am outraged. I am outraged, too, at the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Egypt. Ladies and gentlemen, those were attacks on Americans and American property. Do we do that here? No, we do not. Frankly, if I was the Commander in Chief, Benghazi would no longer exist. It would be nothing more than another sand dune in North Africa.
In some sort of propaganda move, some in this country are trying to use an obscure movie being made or released out west that is unflattering to Muhammed. Poppycock. These were deliberate attacks on American property on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror acts. No reference to the anti Islam movie was made by the mob, but in Egypt, they were overheard shouting things like, “We are all Osama!”
In Egypt, they invaded U.S. soverign soil, tore down our flag and destroyed it. In Libya, the authorities, knowing about the attack, removed our Ambassador from the consulate then announced where they were keeping him. The murderers knew exactly where he would be. They took him. They beat him. They killed him. They dragged him through the streets and they photographed it. These are not tragedies, they are acts of war. Just ask the perpetrators. They won’t doublespeak like the politicians will. They knew what they were doing and they are proud of it. They’d do it again.
I have no idea why the Marines were not ordered to engage, but I have no doubt that those brave men and women are seething right now. If I had the authority, I would turn them loose. We would act swiftly. We would act decisively. We would act victoriously. Then we would come home.
I have no intention of debating this with anyone. If you agree, cool. If you don’t, cool. Right now I’m angry and I’m embarrassed by our Government. Shame. Shame. Shame.
Don’t give me any more crap about apoligizing for some stupid movie. No one apologized to the Christians for movies like “The Last Temptation of Christ” or the play, “Corpus Christi” that offended us to our core. We all knew the First Amendment to the Constitution allows for that kind of thing. We live with it. Using that stupid movie is a cover for our lack of desire to engage the enemy. And it’s Bull!
